Hi last night’s post reasonated, so I thought I’d write a followup.

The demand for comprehensive support for injured workers, including mental, physical, and emotional care, is increasing. However, the supply of skilled professionals capable of providing this support is constrained.

This gap presents a significant challenge for the insurance industry - albeit workers comp, accident or life insurance.

Digital technologies, such as AI-powered platforms - like Lucy (our digital wellbeing coach) - offer a promising solution. These tools can provide personalised support, reduce costs, and enhance patient experience.

It is a no brainer: by embracing these innovative approaches, insurers can better meet the growing needs of injured workers.

Despite the clear benefits of digital solutions, insurers have been slow to adopt them. Why?

This may be due to several factors, including:

- Resistance to change: Insurers may be hesitant to adopt new technologies that disrupt traditional practices.

- Concerns about cost: Some insurers may worry that implementing digital solutions will increase costs in the short term, even though they can lead to long-term cost savings.

- Lack of awareness: The industry may not be fully aware of the potential benefits of digital solutions or how they can be effectively integrated into existing processes.

- Regulatory hurdles: Some jurisdictions may have (or think they have) regulatory barriers that hinder the adoption of digital solutions.

- Data privacy concerns: Insurers may be concerned about data privacy and security risks associated with digital technologies.

We - www.leapforward.ai - are working to experiment, test, and scale these tools, and (are patiently waiting) for the insurance sector to recognise their value as legitimate treatment options.

I’m keen to hear from insurance industry executives who can help me understand the drivers of resistance—off the record, of course.

Let’s explore how we can overcome these challenges together.
