Life long learning (LLL).

It is very much a thing (even before you get to the awesome concept that is brain plasticity...).

While I am a serious advocate of LLL, I thought I had a solid handle on how to go about it.

I was wrong.

I’ve always been the bookish type. Former lawyer. Author of 10+ books. Columnist. Conference speaker.

Always preferred a detailed strategy paper over a schlick PowerPoint deck etc.

Years ago, I made an (internal) promise that I would never deny my daughter a book: anything she wanted to read (big, small, cheap, expensive etc.) - as long as it was age(ish) appropriate, I’d buy it for her.

Trust me when I say that it has been an interesting journey (and rather expensive...I name you, graphic novels!).

Again, I thought I had LLL mastered...until this past weekend when I read something interesting, which I will (poorly) summarise:

How do we achieve LLL?

Simple:

Pick a topic. Any topic. Then find the top 10 rated books on that topic. Read all of them.

Rinse. Repeat.

Rinse. Repeat.

Don’t stop.

The benefit of this approach is that you cannot become selective of whichever author / school / bubble you prefer.

The collective market will advise you.
