In one version of reality, trust helps the world pull together and move collaboratively towards a shared/greater goal or outcome.

In a different version of reality, fear causes a contraction, and Earth’s constituent parts break apart, and suspiciously reject help (‘is this the modern version of the smallpox-infected blankets given to Native Americans by early settlers?’).
